The FDIC delayed the compliance date of certain provisions under its Sign and Advertising Rule, specifically the requirements related to:
The display of the FDIC’s official sign on insured depository institutions’ digital channels.
Provisions related to insured institutions’ ATMs and like devices.
Background: In December 2023, the FDIC adopted a final rule that amended its signage and advertisement requirements. Full compliance with these amendments was scheduled to take effect on May 1, 2025.
Delayed Sections: This action postpones the compliance date for sections 328.4 and 328.5 of the rule to March 1, 2026. The FDIC said it plans to use the additional time to propose adjustments to the regulation, though the remaining provisions in the rule will still take effect on May 1 of this year.
Resource: ICBA Education last fall released an FDIC Signage and Advertisement Requirements Policy designed to help community banks adhere to the regulations.
